Washington is home to 340,000 working-age veterans. Unfortunately, we have a higher veteran unemployment rate than the rest of the nation. That’s why I prime sponsored legislation that created the first-ever, statewide tax credit for employers that hire unemployed veterans. The goal of this new tax credit is to reduce the number of unemployed veterans by at least 30 percent. For employers, the credit is equal to 20 percent of the employee’s wages and benefits.
To be eligible, the employee must have been honorably discharged and been unemployed for more than 30 days. The employer must hire the veteran into a full-time position for at least six months. For more information on how the programs works, click here!
And please, spread the word and let’s work together to reduce unemployment amongst our veterans!
