Improving traffic along the JBLM/I-5 Corridor

As your state senator, one of my goals has always been to see traffic improve on the JBLM/I-5 corridor. The military base is our county’s largest employer. Improving access to and from the base is key to maintaining the military’s commitment to current force levels and the 1000’s of military and civilian jobs on and near the base.  I worked hard to ensure that full-funding for those improvements was included in last year’s state transportation package.

So what’s happening now?

The state Department of Transportation is currently awaiting completion of the environmental reviews for the project which are expected to be finished this year. After the review is approved, the project moves forward with permitting, acquisition, competitive bidding and of course, construction! It’s been far too long a wait, but improvements to this corridor are finally within sight.

The state Department of Transportation is holding a community meeting for Tillicum, Woodbrook, and Clover Creek/Pacific Highway residents interested in learning about some of these changes.
